ACU set for LSC championship

Wildcats have eyes on LSC title

ACU looking to improve one spot from 2003 finish

ROANOKE -- The ACU men's golf team will compete Monday and Tuesday in the Lone Star Conference championship tournament at the Trophy Club Golf Course, looking to claim a berth in the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament.

ACU, which will be competing under first-year head coach Mike Campbell, finished second last year to Central Oklahoma, which went on to win the regional title and advance to the national tournament.  The Bronchos fired a 7-over-par total of 871 at Trophy Club last year, while the Wildcats shot a 19-over-par 83 to finish second.

The Wildcats have one of the best 1-2 combinations of any team in the conference with Pierre Goethals and Billy Rodgers at the top of their lineup, and those two should be among the favorites to win the individual medalist title.  Goethals last year won the regional individual medalist title.
