Wildcats fall to Panhandle State
ACU can get into post-season tournament with win Saturday
ABILENE – Panhandle State's Ryan Williams scored 23 points Thursday night as the Aggies knocked off ACU, 86-78, in a non-conference game at Moody Coliseum.
Most of the Wildcats' attention, though, was on the proceedings in San Angelo where Midwestern State beat Angelo State, 84-79, in a game that kept the Wildcats' post-season playoff hopes alive.
Now Saturday evening's Lone Star Conference South Division game between Midwestern State and ACU will determine the division's last representative in the LSC Post-Season Tournament. ACU and MSU, both 4-7 in the LSC South, will meet at 6 p.m. in Moody Coliseum with the winner advancing to the tournament and the loser getting ready for the 2003-04 season.
The Wildcats led the Aggies early at 4-0 before OPSU ran off a 12-0 run to grab a 12-4 lead. The Aggies would never trail again. ACU got to within 57-55 before a 20-8 run midway through the second half gave OPSU a 77-63 lead.
Ryan Coleman scored a career-high 22 points for the Wildcats, while Rodney Lee scored 23 points.
