Sophomore LB's 17 tackles earn weekly award
ABILENE -- ACU sophomore linebacker Shawn Taylor has been named the Lone Star Conference South Division Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in last Saturday's 12-9 loss at Tarleton State.
Taylor recorded 17 tackles, including three for nine yards in losses, as the Wildcat defense held the nationally ranked Texans to just 255 yards of total offense. Taylor was part of a defensive unit that allowed the league's leading rusher, Olan Coleman, just 66 yards on 26 carries. The Wildcats also recorded five sacks and forced eight punts.
The Texans entered the game averaging 51 points and 419 yards of offense per game.
ACU will be off this week, but will return to action Saturday, Oct. 5, when it travels to Eastern New Mexico to take on the Greyhounds in the LSC South Division opener for both teams.
