Wildcats take court at TCU Invitational
ACU to face field of Division I foes in Fort Worth
FORT WORTH -- After a successful tournament last weekend at the Lady Razorback Invtitational in Arkansas, the ACU women's tennis team will return to action Friday and Saturday at the TCU Invitational.
The Wildcats will face a field of mostly NCAA Division I foes in the tournament, which should conclude Saturday afternoon. Also in the field are the hosts from TCU, Northwestern (La.) State, North Texas, Sam Houston State, Texas Tech and ACU's Lone Star Conference foe Tarleton State.
ACU is coming off a highly successful showing at last weekend's Lady Razorback Invitational. The Wildcats' all-America doubles tandemn of Kristin Chumley and Lacy Johnson swept through to the Flight 1 doubles championship before falling to a team from Tulsa.
Chumley and Johnson knocked off Rice's No. 1 doubles team in their run to the championship match. Also, highly touted freshmen Colleen Reynolds and Lauren Yarbrough didn't disappoint in their first collegiate tournament, reaching the doubles final in their flight, as did Summer Beasley and Rachel Taylor and Sarah Taweel and Joy Israel.
In singles play, Chumley reached the final in her flight, as did Beasley, Reynolds, Johnson, Taweel and Yarbrough.
