Wildcats to compete at Tarleton State Relays
ACU one of 20 teams entered in Tarleton State meet

STEPHENVILLE -- ACU is one of 20 college teams entered in the Tarleton
State Relays, which will be run Saturday at Memorial Stadium on the Tarleton
State campus.
Joining ACU in the meet will be Tarleton State, Angelo State, Austin
College, Dallas Baptist, Howard Payne, Jarvis Christian, Mary Hardin-Baylor,
McMurry, Northwood, Ranger College, South Plains College, Southern Arkansas,
Southwestern University, Sul Ross State, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas Lutheran,
Texas Tech, Wayland Baptist and Wiley College.
The majority of the ACU women's team will be at the meet, while only
about half of the men's team will be competing at Tarleton. The rest of
the men's team and three female athletes will be competing at the Texas
Relays in Austin.
The Wildcats have several athletes who are close to posting qualifying
marks for the national outdoor championship meet who will be competing in
Stephenville, including long jumper Tarrant Fuller, triple jumper Ben Washington
and high jumper Todd Faubus.
On the women's side, sprinter Sofi Hildenborg will be competing in both
the 100 and 200 meters and on the Wildcats' 4x400 relay team, which has
not been on the track yet during the outdoor season. Also running on the
4x400 relay team will be Marichea Austin, Elricia Francis and Angie Waters.
Waters posted an outstanding time of 2:09.81 (a personal best) in the
800 meters last weekend at the Stanford Invitational to provisionally qualify
for the event at the national outdoor championship meet.
Others competing this weekend who are close to posting qualifying times
or marks are Amy Williams in the shot put and Brandy Lynch in the discus,
Elricia Francis in both the 100 and 200 meters, and Marichea Austin in the
400 meters.
