ACU suffers first loss of season
Panhandle State hands ACU 81-58 defeat
GOODWELL, Okla. -- The ACU men's team suffered its first loss of the season Saturday night as it dropped an 81-58 decision against undefeated Oklahoma Panhandle State.
The Aggies (4-0) led 37-30 at halftime before pulling away in the second half to knock off the Wildcas, who fall to 2-1 with the loss. ACU will return to action later this week when it takes on Central Oklahoma (Thursday in Edmond, Okla.) and Northeastern State (Saturday in Tahlequah, Okla.) in a pair of Lone Star Conference crossover games.
The Wildcats were led by junior guard Rodney Lee, who continued his torrid start to the season by scoring 21 points on 6 of 14 shooting (4 of 8 from 3-point range). Lee is averaging 25.3 points per game for the Wildcats through three games.
Jeff Johnson had 13 points for the Wildcats and Calvin Nite chipped in with 11 for ACU, which won't play at home again until a Dec. 14 game against Dallas Christian.
The Aggies were led by guard Kenneth Barrett, who had 23 points. Andrew Harlie had 17 points and nine rebounds for Panhandle State.
