Brenda Jacoby earns LSC honor
ACU senior wins award for second time this season
ACU senior wing Brenda Jacoby has been named the Lone
Star Conference South Division Player of the Week for her play in helping
the Wildcats sweep a pair of road games last weekend at Eastern New Mexico
and West Texas A&M.
Jacoby, who earned the honor for the second time this season, averaged
18.5 points and six rebounds in the two games as the Wildcats improved to
8-9 overall and 3-2 in the LSC South Division with the two victories.
In Thursday's 73-70 win over ENMU, Jacoby had 15 points and two rebounds
as ACU won its first road conference game since Feb. 8, 2001, when it beat
Texas Woman's, 71-57, in Denton.
She then played one of the best games of her Wildcat career Saturday
as the Wildcats beat West Texas A&M, 81-77, to spoil opening night at
the new WTAM Events Center for most of the 4,941 fans in attendance. Jacoby
had 22 points and 10 rebounds -- her first career double-double -- to lead
the win that pushed the Wildcats into third place in the LSC South, one-half
game behind Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Kingsville (4-2) and one game
behind division leader Angelo State (4-1).
ACU will return to the floor Thursday at 6 p.m. when it hosts Tarleton
State in an important LSC South Division contest.
