DUNCAN, Okla. -- Playing in windier conditions on Tuesday than on Monday, the 13th-ranked ACU Wildcats shot a second-round 307 to finish second by one stroke in a tightly bunched field at The Territory Classic.
ACU and Incarnate Word were tied for second after Monday's first round at 9-over-par 297, but it was the Cardinals who had the better second day, shooting an 18-over-par 306 to ACU's 19-over-par 307 to pull out the victory by one stroke (603-604).
Midwestern State was third at 605 (300-305), and Dallas Baptist (304-302) and Cameron (305-301) were tied for fourth at 606.
Four of the Wildcats who scored saw their scores balloon in Tuesday's final round as they battled worse conditions than the ones they dealt with at the par-72, 7,077-yard Territory Country Club.

Trey Sullivan (74 on Monday) finished tied for ninth at 6-over-par 150 after Carpenter shot a 6-over-par 78, while Sullivan shot a 4-over-par 76 on Tuesday.
Sophomore
Corbin Renner (78 on Monday) was the only Wildcat who lowered his score on Tuesday, shooting a 2-over-par 74 to finish at 152 and tied for 18th, along with teammate
Morgan Johnson, who followed Monday's 73 with a 79 on Tuesday.
Texas A&M-Commerce's Patrick Russo (71-74–145) won the individual championship as the Lions – who held the first-day lead at 292 – finished sixth in the team standings.
ACU will be back in action Oct. 8-9 at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational in Amarillo.
