Wildcats Lead After 2 Rounds

AUSTIN – Battling windy conditions at the Grey Rock Golf Club the ACU golf team shot a 591 to take a five stroke lead into Tuesday's final round at the St. Edward's Invitational. Alex Carpenter and Tyler Sheppard also sit tied for third putting four Wildcats in the top 15.

Carpenter fired consecutive rounds of 73 to work for a third place tie. Sheppard fired a 75 in his morning opening round and as conditions improved shot an even par, 71. Sheppard's even par was one of only three rounds that shot even par or better in the two rounds.

Josh Hardt of Incarnate Word and Jason Timmis of Cameron sit one stroke ahead of the Carpenter and Sheppard in the lead at 3 over.

Cyril Bouniol and Tyler Dickerson also finished their first two rounds in a tie for 15th. Bouniol shot a one over par, 72, but struggled in the afternoon shooting a 79. Dickerson was a little more consistent opening with a 75 in round one and fired a 76 to sit at 9 over.

Adam Carpenter sits at the No. 5 position after shooting back-to-back scores of 76 to sit at 10 over and tied for 23rd.

ACU sits five strokes ahead of St. Mary's and nine strokes ahead of third place Barry University.

The Wildcats will tee off from No. 1 starting at 9:30 a.m. and finish with Tyler Sheppard at 9:57 a.m. and Alex Carpenter at 10:06 a.m.
