Pavlin falls in Kentucky final

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- ACU's Dina Pavlin reached the championship match of the Flight D singles bracket Sunday at the University of Kentucky Invitational tennis tournament, capping a successful weekend for the Wildcat women's team at the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Complex.
Pavlin -- who beat players from Virginia and Louisville to reach the final -- dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision to Taylor Fournier of Michigan in Sunday's championship match.
Pavlin reached the final with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Maria Fuccillo of Virginia on Saturday and a 4-6, 7-6, 6-1 victory over Stefanie Villajuan of Louisville late Saturday evening.
In the consolation bracket of Flight D singles, Cassie Carver -- who lost her first-round match Friday -- dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Christine Stromberg of Illinois.
In Flight C singles, Jaclyn Walker -- who went three sets Friday to win her first-round match -- knocked off Sarah Lotto of Penn State, 6-3, 6-4, in Saturday morning's quarterfinals before she dropped a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 decision to Fidar Manashirova of Ohio State in Saturday afternoon's semifinals.
Also in Flight C, Julia Mongin -- who dropped her first-round match Friday -- advanced to the consolation semifinals before losing a 6-2, 7-5 decision to Ashley Irvin of Louisville on Saturday.
