ABILENE -- Angelo State's Maggie Schaffer scored in the 33rd minute Friday afternoon and that goal held up as the Rambelles knocked off ACU, 1-0, in Lone Star Conference women's soccer action at the Wildcat Soccer Pitch.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 4-9-1 overall and 2-7-1 in the LSC, while the Rambelles improve to 8-5-1 and 6-3-1. ACU will return to action Sunday at 1 p.m. when it hosts Incarnate Word at The Pitch.
With the match deadlocked at 0-0, Schaffer took a pass from Kara Edwards and fired from 30 yards out. The ball found the upper right corner over the outstretched hands of ACU goalkepper
Arielle Moncure for the game's only goal.
ACU had more shots on goal than the Rambelles (7-6) with most of those coming early in the second half as the Wildcats made a push to gget the match tied.
Andrea Carpenter had two shots early in the half, but neither could find the net as the Wildcats were shut out for the sixth time this season and third time in their last four matches.
