ACU headed to regional

ABILENE -- The ACU Wildcats' season will continue this weekend when they play in the NCAA Division II South Central Region sub-regional tournament in Durant, Okla.
The Wildcats (42-13) and ranked 12th in the country will enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed and will play No. 6 seed Missouri Western (45-10) at noon Friday at the Southeastern Softball Complex. The other two teams in the sub-regional are Southeastern Oklahoma State (50-11) and Central Missouri (34-12).
The other sub-regional will be played in San Angelo where Lone Star Conference champion Angelo State will host Emporia State and Nebraska-Omaha of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and St. Edward's, the champion of the Heartland Conference and the defending regional champion.
The winner of each sub-regional will meet the weekend of May 15-16 at the highest remaining seed for a berth into the 2009 NCAA Division II College World Series.
