Softball coach won't return

ABILENE -- Two days after the end of a disappointing 2010 softball season, ACU director of athletics Jared Mosley announced Monday that the contract of head coach Chantiel Wilson would not be renewed when it expires at the end of this month.
The 2010 season began with ACU picked to finish second in the Lone Star Conference South Division, but it quickly went downhill as ACU struggled to a 9-17 start. The Wildcats never could right the ship as they finished 21-31 overall and 5-12 in Lone Star Conference South Division competition.
Citing a need for a fresh approach and new leadership, Mosley decided to make a change in the softball program.
"I feel a strong need for ACU to move in a different direction with the leadership in women's softball and have decided to not renew Coach Chantiel Wilson's contract for next year," Mosley said. "I appreciate the time and dedication that Chantiel has provided the past seven years to a program that meant a lot to her. I also look forward to moving quickly to find the next head coach to guide the program;We will immediately begin a search for a new coach to get our program where itneeds to be in every facet."
