ACU Sweeps Tennis Titles

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Abilene Christian's claimed the men's and women's titles as the 2010 Lone Star Conference Tennis Championships wrapped up Saturday in Oklahoma City, Okla.
ACU's men won their second straight league title with a 5-0 shutout of Cameron, while the Wildcat women topped Northeastern State 5-1 to claim their third consecutive crown.
ACU swept all three doubles matches in the men's bout to take control, getting a key 9-8 win (7-3 in tiebreaker) at No. 1 from Luke Hawk and Bryan Joiner. Singles wins by Hawk and Brett Proctor gave the Wildcats the needed five points to end the match early.
ACU's women led 2-1 after doubles action before claiming lopsided singles wins at No. 2, 4 and 5 to end the match. ACU lost just two games in those three singles victories.
