Wildcats in 3rd at The Territory

First-round scores
DUNCAN, Okla. -- After struggling to a seventh-place finish at last week's season-opening Charles Coody West Texas Intercollegiate, the ACU golf team bounced back Monday with a solid opening round at The Territory Classic at The Territory Golf Course.
The Wildcats fired an opening-round 7-over-par 295 and sit in third place going into Tuesday's final round of action. ACU is only five shots behind team leader St. Edward's, which shot a 290 on Monday. Dallas Baptist is in second at 291, followed by ACU at 295. Southwestern and Newman (Kan.) are tied for fourth at 300.
The final round of the tournament will get started Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at The Territory, which is a par-72, 7,098-yard layout.
Cyril Bouniol was ACU's top player on Monday and finds himself tied for second in the individual medalist race after shooting a 1-under-par 71 on Monday. Freshman Alex Carpenter is tied for 17th after an opening-round 74.
Alex's brother, Adam -- who won the individual medalist title last week at the Coody -- is tied for 21st after a 75. He's tied for 21st with, among other, his teammate, Morgan Johnson. Tyler Sheppard is tied for 42nd after shooting a 77 on Monday.
