Hines Earns 4th LSC Award

RICHARDSON – After earning Lone Star Confernce Defensive Player of the Week junior Shawna Hines earned Offensive Player of the Week honors as announced Tuesday by the league office.

Hines a junior from Aurora, Colorado, earned her fourth Player of the Week award of the season, but first as the Offensive Player of the Week. Hines who has put up outstanding numbers all season including leading the NCAA Division II in both blocks and blocks per set helped the Wildcats to a 3-0 record last week.

Hines recorded 33 kills on 58 total attacks and did not commit an attack error, hitting .569 on the week.  The NCAA Division II leader in both blocks and blocks per set had 19 total blocks in three matches for the Wildcats.  She scored 46 points for ACU in the three matches improving the Wildcats winning streak to 13 straight and a 25-5 overall record.

Along with these accolades Hines has also climbed the ACU record books. With 163 total blocks this season Hines now holds the mark for second most blocks in a season and is fourth on the Wildcats career list for blocks with 418.

Hines and the Wildcats are back in action this week as they host two LSC South Division foes Texas A&M-Kingsville on Thursday and Tarleton State on Saturday.
